Blah blah blah blah blah [06 Jul 2009|02:42pm]
I can't do anything so I'm eating, reading, and writing songs about hipsters. Here is my song about hipsters.

One day when I am old someone will ask
And I will tell them what I can about what happened in the past:
Concerts at record stores and songs we sung
And it was kind of strange but it was nice to be young

And I think there was a movement but I couldn't tell you where
I think there was a message, in our t-shirts, in our hair
I know that we had something and I really think we cared
But I couldn't tell you exactly in the end what we declared

And all the punks in protest pins and feathered pork-pie hats
Hey they love the way you kept your beard a little trimmed like that
Check the seas of chunky glasses, do the white boy dance
With old Converse shoes and Dylan ‘fros and tapered gray pants

Man I dig your taste in music and I like your curly hair
But I really don't see any of this getting anywhere
Did you vote, I hope you did, because I really love your style
Do your lyrics match your feelings - if they did you'd be worthwhile

(bridge)
And the hipsters all would stand in line
And they’d tap their checkered Vans in time
And the magic vinyl scratches make the air spark like a sign
Flashing neon over clubs in Greenwich village after nine

(Chorus)

And the Ray Bands flashed cool patterns cross the eyes of all the kids
Who were swigging Pabst Blue Ribbon, popping plastic film lids
In an age of electronics we want Kodachrome
We would never use the cameras that we brought from home

So we’ll ditch digitization and take Polaroids
Of the girls in colored tights who cling to flannel-shirted boys
And the irony is lost on those who listen when they play
How unique are we when everybody looks this way

(Chorus)
